Question: What is Agricultural Market Information Unit (AMIU) portal about?

AMIU portal is on agriculture market information system, which was developed under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Infrastructure Project (APART), Govt. of Assam. The project is funded by World Bank through Govt. of India. The portal is hosted at Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, which is an Operational Project Implementation Unit (OPIU) of APART.

Question: What are the contents of AMIU Portal?

The portal provides dynamic information on daily wholesale prices of the agriculture commodities, which includes arrival, minimum, maximum and modal price of different commodities arriving in different markets of Assam. It also provides information on different activities and news related to marketing and activities carried out by AMIU.

Question: What types of daily data are disseminated to the Portal?

The portal provides easy access to commodity-wise, variety-wise daily prices and arrivals information of more than 300 varieties and about 100 commodities from the wholesale markets spread across Assam.

Question: What is the method of collection and dissemination of data?

The market information is collected by Field Data Enumerators (FDE) in each district. The data is collected through mobile application, which gets uploaded into web portal post verification. The data is disseminated through web portal, mobile application, SMS service and voice recognition portal through toll free number.

Question: How many markets have been covered so far under this project?

So far 75 markets from 17 districts have been covered as on 30-06-2022.

The main users of AMIU website are Farmers, Traders, Research Institutes, Exporters, Commodity Boards/Various Government Departments, etc.
